		<description>Thank you, Dominick! I deleted all the USB drives from Device Manager, restarted the machine (IBM Thinkpad T400 in my case), installed the device driver software for my USB (TATA Photon from Huawei) and Viola! It connected. 

None of the other suggestions (for example, those posted in http://www.frightanic.com/2009/06/16/huawei-e220-the-device-has-been-disconnected-or-is-unavailable/) worked for me. 

Not sure why the &#039;The device has been disconnected or is unavailable
&#039; error came up in the first place (as the USB worked when plugged onto another computer). Saved myself lots of time and further frustration. Thank you! :)</description>
